As a Lab Technician here at Arco, you’ll play an important role in ensuring our products meet the required standards for quality, performance and safety. From carrying out testing on a wide range of PPE products to maintaining specialist testing equipment, you’ll be at the heart of our technical team. You’ll also work closely with other teams, providing technical insight and helping turn testing and product knowledge into better outcomes for our customers.
The Lab Technician role is full time, Monday to Friday with working hours of 08:30 to 17:00.
Key responsibilities include:
- Performing laboratory tests in accordance with prescribed methods and standards to produce, record and report reliable and precise test data
- Reporting opinions and interpretation of test results when required by internal or external customers (and outside of the UKAS accreditation scope)
- Managing the flow of work into the laboratory to ensure any work requests and due diligence testing plans are fulfilled within agreed targets
- Following the requirements of the laboratory management system to ensure compliance with relevant management standards including ISO 17025
- Liaising with Product teams to advise corrective actions on new product development or continuous development of products
- Supporting the modification of existing in-house methods and the development of new methods
- Supporting with establishing and recording measurement uncertainty for any accredited methods
- Assisting with the maintenance, control, and calibration of testing equipment and implementing effective CAPA processes when required
- Carrying out customer tours of the facility by demonstrating testing capabilities and lend knowledge and expert opinions, including performing technical presentations
- Prioritising your workload based on the requirements of the SLA and input from stakeholders
- Participating in and carrying out audits of the laboratory facility
- Assisting management with the training of junior staff

The ideal Laboratory Technician will be/have:
Required
- Laboratory experience with experience of recording experiments and strong knowledge of scientific principals
- Strong Analytical and diagnostic skills
- A high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- An understanding of the impact of the laboratory department on the wider business
- Strong knowledge working practice health & safety standards
- Good IT skills e.g., Microsoft packages and Adobe
Desirable
- Materials analysis and testing knowledge
- Operational knowledge of relevant test equipment
- Product manufacturing techniques and product construction
- Knowledge of relevant product specifications and standards
- HNC or above in Applied Science or equivalent
